This I/O Breakout Module is designed for use with the HuMoTech Harness or other third-party end-effectors.

Modules must be calibrated using a designated load cell, and can be calibrated by HuMoTech or by the customer.

NOTE:  Using the Analog Breakout Module with a HuMoTech end-effector bypasses the end-effector's on-board emergency stop.

Installation

  • Mount the module to the DIN rail next to one of the end effector inputs using the Spring loaded DIN Rail Attachment

  • Plug the M12 cable into the selected End effector input and connect the BNC analog encoder input to one of the Analog Inputs on the IO Unit

Encoder BNC

This BNC connector is meant to connected to one of the Analog In BNC connectors on the IO Unit. It is intended for an analog voltage signal from an analog encoder.

Note: If this connector is to be unused, use a field wireable connector to connect the center to the shield.  Failure to do so can result in a floating wire that can interfere with the other analog signals. Shield is not meant to be electrically connected to a sensor, only to protect the analog signal from EMI.

General BNC

This BNC connector is meant to connected to one of the Analog In BNC connectors on the IO Unit. It is intended for any generic analog voltage signal.

Shield is not meant to be electrically connected to a sensor, only to protect the analog signal from EMI. 

Load Cell/Power Connector

This M12-5 is meant to be connected to one of the End Effector M12 inputs via a shielded M12-5 cable. This connector provides 24V to the module and through this connector the analog voltage signal from the voltage amplifier inside the module is connected to the IO Unit.

Note: Pins 1 & 2 are part of the IO Unit E-Stop Circuit and are connected inside the module.

DB9

The DB9 connector is provided for connection to any custom End Effector made by the customer. It is assumed that the customer provided end effector is using a load cell an analog encoder and potentially an additional analog sensor.

Voltage Amplifier for Strain gage/Load Cell

Each module contains a Futek Signal conditioning voltage amplifier (FUTEK IAA100). The amplifier is supplied 24V and gnd from the M12 connector and sends sends out an analog signal via the same connector. The signal conditioner converts the 24V to a set voltage (either 10V or 5V depending on the application). E+ and E- are the regulated input voltage from the voltage amplifier and gnd supplied to the load cell/strain gauge circuit. The S+ and S- are the reference signals used to determine the amount of strain in the sensor. When setting up the sensor ensure that the shield is either connected to E- or the cable shield in order to avoid unintended capacitive coupling.
